    that’s pretty cool, specifically, what is the suction cup called? I’ve been looking for a commerical grade suction cup that can hold a dslr + flash.

    also, how did you connect the manfroto head to the suction cup? Is it as easy as drilling a hole and bolting it down? Would drilling a hole compromise the strength of the suction?

    I bought mine in Walmart. It is a generic brand. I mounted a Canon 5D with a battery grip. It holds the camera steady steady when car is not moving. In a moving vehicle plastic body of the suction cup gives way and the camera rig wobbles. I will keep my eye on a more solid cup construction. What you want is a cap body made of metal.

    My joint is pretty fancy because it uses a bayonet mount from an old Vivitar flash hand grip. In it’s simplest form it can be made with a piece of an L-shaped metal profile. I will posted additional pictures to explain the details
